Stacks sold to Duncan Systems Specialists, Inc. - 12-Oct-2006
As of August 1, 2006, Imaginet Resources Corp (IRC) finalized an agreement with Duncan Systems Specialists Inc. (DSS) which makes DSS the new owner of STACKS, the Library Automation Software business. The agreement has Duncan Systems immediately assuming all responsibility for Stacks including sales, marketing, on-going customer support and product development. Bruce Moore has also agreed to join DSS and will continue to provide seamless help desk support for all Stacks Clients. IRC and DSS have been working together over the past couple of months to ensure that Stacks Clients are completely unaffected by this business decision. There will be a period of transition during August while personnel training, business records transfers and outstanding installation commitments in Ontario are completed. Please continue to use the existing communication support channels until further notice. Email us at Support@Stacks.Ca or call toll-free 1-800-894-7797 x5.
Reaction to Stacks sale - 22-Aug-2006
At Imaginet, we believe the sale of the business to Duncan Systems (www.duncansystems.com) is extremely positive for Stacks Clients. DSS has been in the library services business since 1990, providing cataloguing, processing, and database services to all kinds of libraries worldwide. DSS plans to enhance the Stacks product line to further support libraries in the areas of cataloguing, acquisitions, and patron support. Stacks Clients will benefit from DSS’s many years of experience in data processing and in developing customized technical services and IT solutions for its customers. Mike Diehl, original developer of Stacks, and current employee of IRC, is confident that DSS will continue to provide the high level of customer service and support that is one of the hallmarks of Stacks. "Duncan Systems, with its extensive knowledge of library systems, as well as its focus on personal service, makes a great home for Stacks," says Mike. "I am happy that they are taking care of our valued Stacks customers, many of whom have become my friends over the past twelve years. I feel our customers are in good hands, and I hope they will give Duncan Systems the same kind of support they have given me over the years," he added. Duncan Systems President, Al Duncan, says “at DSS, we are looking forward to working with existing and future Stacks customers to enhance the product line and to move forward with improvements required to allow public, school and special libraries to better serve their patrons in today’s challenging library service environments”.
